TIME LINE: Applications will be available starting January 22nd. Do not delay!! Apply early and get your application in no later than March 25th to receive a $50 dollar discount!! The final deadline for receiving your full applications is May 4, 2012. Don't put off till tomorrow what you can get done today!!
RECOMMENDATION LETTERS: TODAY (don't delay!!) ask two people to write your recommendation letters. These should be people who know your gifts and talents. Your music director, your pastor, your music teacher, your youth minister, etc., would make good choices. Letters from friends, parents (unless they are the leader of your music group) non liturgical/youth leaders or teachers other than music or religion teachers will not be accepted.
ESSAYS: Another important aspect of the application process is the writing of your essay. Please note, if you have been to MMA in the past, we have made significant changes to the questions. We want to know who you are in this moment. Sending previous year submissions will not be allowed. For those applying to the leadership track, there is an additional, separate essay for you to write for acceptance into this track.
ACCEPTANCE: While we at MMA would like to welcome everyone into the program, acceptance is not guaranteed. Because of the great numbers who apply, acceptance into this program is based on receiving your application in a timely fashion, the performance level of your audition recording, the content of your essay form, and your letters of recommendation.
You will be notified by e-mail regarding your acceptance no later than May 31, 2012. Please do not contact the MMA office prior to this date. All must apply and provide all the required materials with completed applications and fees. If you are not accepted to the program fees will be refunded in full.
SCHOLARSHIPS: Limited scholarships are available to students with special financial considerations. If you would like to apply for a full or partial scholarship, we require two (2) letters, prior to your applying to the program. One should be written on your behalf by your parish or school music or youth minister. Please be sure the letter includes your past and current involvement with music at your school or parish. The second letter should be written by you regarding why you would like to attend MMA. Letters should be e-mailed as soon as possible to MusicMinistryAlive@gmail.com. Applications for scholarships must be received no later than April 1, 2012. Funds are limited, and scholarships are considered on a first come, first serve basis. Notification of approval will be sent by e-mail no later than April 15, 2012.
