Welcome to MUSIC MINISTRY ALIVE!, and to our website. We hope that as you explore this site, you will find lots of information about what we believe is a very special program and cause.

When I was a young teenager, I was blest to have parents, teachers, and mentors that took a passionate interest in my talents and who were attentive to my development as a musician and a man of faith. This, together with a very faith-filled parish community, helped to lead me toward embracing God's call as a liturgical musician. MMA began as an outpouring of my gratitude for these gifts.

2012 brings us to our 14th year, and we celebrate a very special event- the beginning of the 50th Anniversary of the calling of the Second Vatican Council. This event set the Church on fire with renewal and a new vision of what it means to follow Christ in the world, and in the case of the liturgy, provided a new and vibrant path to worship God in spirit and truth. We all know that good, sound, prayerful and prophetic music is needed to not only contribute to the quality of our common liturgical prayer, but to help us to, as the hymn text says, "sing a new Church into being."
This year we give thanks with our theme: "Breathe  Your Spirit Into Us." We hope to ignite in our participants the joy and passion that Vatican II proclaimed. We are especially blest to have with us, one of the few surviving Council Fathers, Bishop Remi DeRoo, retired Bishop of Victoria, British Columbia. Bishop Remi was in attendance at all four sessions of the council, and he will be a living sign and our master teacher to help us re-claim the spirit of Vatican II.
We hope that you will invite the young and talented music ministers that you know to come and check out MMA. We will sing, pray, and celebrate our gifts and the God who call us each by name to serve as disciples.

We invite you to take some time and catch a bit of the joy that we have come to know as the community of MMA through this site!

God bless you!
